where we ride
Bikebus trips transport you and your bike to some of the best off road cycling destinations in Scotland.
We are a short drive from the world acclaimed 7 Stanes trail centres. The most famous of which, Glentress, guarantees a great days riding whether you’re new to mountain biking or whether you’re an old hand (and have the scars to prove it).
Other ‘Stanes regularly on the Bikebus radar are Innerleithen and Ae, both of which have downhill trails and also feature ‘enduro cross country ‘ trails.
Dalbeattie, Kirroughtree and Mabie all have plenty superb singletrack riding and all have their own unique feel and features. Dalbeattie has a relaxed feel but its rocky outcrop trails are far from dull. Kirroughtree has quite possibly some of the best technical singletrack in the country. Mabie has a more ‘old skool’ feel to its trails but on the flip side has a 4 cross track and the infamous Dark side timber trails.
A few other trail centres also appear on the Bikebus calendar.
A great wee hidden gem, nestled close to the ‘Stanes is Drumlanrig . Set in the gardens of The Duke of Buccleughs castle is a trail network with some wonderful, rooty, technical, fun singletrack. A good favourite if the high level routes are snow bound in winter.
The Witch's trail at Fort William needs little introduction with it being voted best race venue on the world cup circuit. Don’t worry though; you don’t need to be going a warp speed 10 to enjoy this route. Two marked trails offer great riding for all abilities. We also head here for a downhill day when again this venue leads the way with its gondola accessed trails. Numerous world cup racers can’t be wrong in naming this one their favourite.
Another northern trail centre worthy of the Bikebus stamp of approval is Laggan Wolftrax. Technical rocky riding , fast flowing jump parks or prime singletrack. This place has it all – and also a great wee café.
Trail centre riding makes up the bulk of the Bikebus diary however when the big hills start to dry out in the springtime some choice ‘natural’ routes are sometimes the order of the day. From Highland Perthshire’s Pitlochry and Dunkeld and The Devils Staircase, Glencoe to the Southern Uplands. Scotland’s old drove roads and stalkers paths provide some unforgettable days in the saddle.
Bikebus diary is constantly changing but it’s sure to have a destination to suit your riding style and preference. If you don’t see your personal favourite appearing don’t be afraid to get in touch – we are always open to suggestions.

Another great wee vid from Marcin
Bikebus own cinematographer Marcin shot this vid just over the border in Kielder. You’ll be looking at Teenwolfs bum all the way down - not great but the other options were Iains, Steves, Mine or worst of all Lenkas. This section was probably the best and most fun bit on what was a fairly uninspiring [...]
